The pound sterling (GBP) is the currency of the United Kingdom, its Crown Dependencies (the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands) and some British Overseas Territories. It is subdivided into 100 pence. The Bank of England issues the currency in the UK, with other variations issued in the dependencies. The pound sterling is a major global currency and a reserve currency.
